Jackie joined Rudlings Wakelam in September 2013 and is an experienced solicitor in their Child Care team. Since this time, virtually all her work has comprised Care Proceedings.
Jackie qualified as a solicitor in 1987 and has specialised in various aspects of Family Law since before 1990. She has been a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel (Children representative) since 1993 and is currently a member of its successor, the Law Society’s Children Law Accreditation Scheme which enables her to represent children, parents and other relatives in Care Proceedings covering varying issues such as neglect, emotional harm, physical abuse, sexual abuse, substance misuse and domestic abuse. In the past 3 years she has had over 300 cases. Wherever possible, Jackie represents her clients in court hearings, mainly in East Anglia.
She also represents children or their parents in proceedings for Secure Accommodation Orders, which by their nature are relatively infrequent. This has been a few cases in most years.
Jackie also specialises in other cases involving children, such as Special Guardianship Orders, disputes between parents about living arrangements and other issues for children and complex private law ‘16.4’ cases where the children’s views are made through a children’s guardian. She has also represented children and parents in Care Proceedings in recent years that involve declarations of deprivation of liberty
Jackie has been a member of the Association of Lawyers for Children and Resolution for over 25 years. Jackie seeks to ensure that the voice of her clients are heard in the court process.
Jackie’s other interests include badminton, racquetball, bird-watching and following the ups and the downs of Welsh Rugby.
