Eviction periods returning to normal

There will be a return to pre-pandemic notice periods for seeking possession of residential tenancies in England from 1 October 2021

But the government has warned that they could be curtailed again if the pandemic were to worsen once more.

With effect from 1 October 2021 the notice period that must be given in notices seeking possession of residential properties in England reverts to the pre-pandemic notice period.

Importantly this means that Landlord’s wishing to evict tenants on the non-fault ground, Section 21, will only need to give 2 months’ notice as opposed to the current 4 months.
