Know your rights as a Consumer
The Sale of Goods Act 1979 was an important piece of legislation for the consumer. It imposed strict rules upon sellers selling in the course of a business. Under the Act, goods must be:
- as described
- of satisfactory quality
- fit for purpose
If your goods do not meet any of the above criteria, you may have a claim under the Act as the seller may be deemed to have breached the contract between you. Any claim is brought against the seller, not the manufacturer.
